Why spend the money for a pressure reduction mattress?
When compared with how effective they are in preventing pressure ulcers as well as the huge cost savings they provide vs. foam or air overlays, the price of purchasing a high quality MaxiFloat Mattress is entirely self-evident.
Your Therapeutic Support Systems representative can help you calculate your own facility’s savings amount vs. a variety of static and powered overlays as well as the projected savings from preventing pressure ulcers from ever happening.
Why are MaxiFloat Mattresses better?
Only Therapeutic Support Systems MaxiFloats have an over 15 year-long track record of preventing and managing skin breakdown. Therapeutic Support Systems is also the only company that has numerous independent clinical outcomes from facilities in both acute and long-term care facilities.
As one of the early originators of the product category, Therapeutic Support Systems continues to equip our MaxiFloats with the latest technological innovations. And MaxiFloats are the clear market share leader with over 1,000,000 purchased worldwide since their inception.
Much like convoluted pads before them, almost anyone can make a foam mattress, but mattress making is all we do and we take pride in producing the best in the industry, the MaxiFloat.

We have seen some mattresses with warranties of 15 years; do you have mattresses available with similar length warranties?
Yes we do. We offer our StarCrest and SilverCrest mattresses, both of which come equipped with 15 year warranties. We also offer a specially constructed MaxiFloat LFP that offers a fifteen year warranty.
There are a number of issues to keep in mind when considering the purchase of mattresses with 15 year warranties.
ISSUE
CONSIDERATION
What exactly is being warranted?
Mattresses with extended warranties are simply guaranteeing quality workmanship and materials. There is no guarantee of performance over the life of the mattress.
Mattresses with 15 year warranties clearly state that a reduction tolerance of 25% of mattress height is acceptable under their warranty. In a 6” mattress they are saying that a “sink hole” of 1½ inches is normal wear and tear over the life of the warranty.
Does the entire mattress have a 15 year warranty?
No. A top cover must be replaced after 7½ years.
What makes a mattress last 15 years?
Typically, mattresses that carry a warranty of 15 years must be “fortified” to last that long. Firmer foams must be used which can hamper the mattresses ability to provide adequate pressure reduction.
Obsolescence and new technology
Look around your home and facility. How many products can you see that are 15 years old?
Next, of those 15 year old products, how many have all of the features and offers all of the benefits of products that you have purchased in the last 3, 4, or 5 years.
I’ll bet not many. Even if they are performing as perfectly today as the day you bought them, it is probably quite clear they lack many of the technological improvements of the last few years.
The same holds true for pressure reduction mattresses. Even if they perform up to your expectations, new foams, top covers, bottom covers, materials etc. are being introduced every day. Why would you want to be locked into today’s technology for 15 years?
