Standard, a performance-based product classification framework has been created that categorizes Techstyles protective apparel according to the degree of protection afforded. To select the appropriate protective apparel, the degree of exposure risk for various job classifications must first be determined by the healthcare provider.
AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) recently published new guidelines for the performance of protective apparel. Encompass Medical feels that this is a positive development because the standard creates a system of classification and minimum requirements based on liquid barrier performance for protective apparel and drapes used in healthcare facilities. The guideline specifies a reliable method for testing and labeling protective apparel and provides an understanding of barrier properties to assist healthcare personnel select the appropriate product for a particular task.
